I
have practiced cosmetic surgery in Hawaii since 1979, and because
of the ethnic composition of the Hawaiian population, a majority
of my practice has involved esthetic surgery for the Asian patient.
The past 20 years has witnessed an explosion in
the demand for cosmetic surgery of the Asian face, a situation
attributable to increasing affluence in Asian nations as well
as immigration to the western world. My professional experience
during these past 20 years has established my credentials
as an expert in Asian cosmetic surgery, having authored
a medical textbook (Cosmetic Surgery of the Asian Face),
and published 80 plus scientific articles and medical textbook
chapters.
I recently served as a guest editor for the Facial Plastic
Surgery Clinics of North America special issue on Surgery in
the Asian Patient. In addition, I have presented 60 plus scientific
lectures at National and International meetings.
I stress these professional and academic achievements
because in cosmetic surgery, the experience and expertise
of the surgeon is perhaps the best predictor of an excellent
surgical outcome. I am particularly proud of my certification
by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive
Surgery (click for link describing this certifying body
for specialty Facial
Plastic Surgeons).
